Diagnostic Laboratory

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is subsidizing testing for Oklahoma horses with clinical signs of central nervous system disease.

Testing is provided by the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.

To qualify for the subsidized testing, all of the following samples MUST be submitted by a veterinarian:

• Whole blood in EDTA (PTT) – EHV-1 gB PCR testing
• Deep nasal swabs (in RTT with 0.5 ml saline) – EHV-1 gB PCR testing
  • Plastic shaft cotton swabs are recommended
• Serum or clotted blood (RTT) – WNV/EEE ELISA
